The first definition of optimism is that it is common skill or an attribute that all of us have. Everyone has the ability to be optimistic. Since it is an innate characteristic, it is our choice to use or not to use it. One can achieve greatness while enjoying life. Living without optimism is living in a life full of stress and will consequently lead to failures. Whenever people think that they does not have the positive out look in life, one can still acquire it through others.

It can be taught and brought about by influence. Optimism is a tool that keeps us happy. It makes every burden lighter by regarding burden as a challenge that could make us a strong person. It makes us appreciate everything we have in life. Through appreciation, happiness is acquired. Optimism is also our guide in our life to make all things right. Meanwhile, optimism is a trait that has the resemblance with other traits. It can be like hope, perseverance and confidence. It is like hope that lets the person to hold on.

It is perseverance, which keeps the person trying. It is confidence that uplifts the feeling of a person that everything will just be fine and things will come out as great as what he or she had thought.

Furthermore, optimism is always the home of positive possibilities. It is the foundation that leads a person to succeed through happiness. It serves as a cornerstone that builds up our best future. He hoped that society would eventually reach the state where calm reason would replace all violence and force, that mind could eventually make matter subservient to it, and that intelligence could discover the secret of immortality.
